The Protective Eye – Eye of Horus
The Eye of Horus is one of the most famous and widely recognized symbols of Ancient Egypt, originally known as Wedjat. Though it may appear simple, the Eye of Horus holds deep spiritual meanings, representing balance between the human senses, mind, and soul.
The eye is composed of six elements — five of them symbolize the five human senses, while the sixth represents thought, which is depicted by the eyebrow in ancient Egyptian art:
- The pupil at the center of the eye symbolizes sight, as it is the point through which we perceive the world.
- The triangular shape toward the ear represents hearing.
- The triangular shape toward the nose represents smell.
- The curved spiral line resembling a tongue represents taste.
- The straight line descending from the eye symbolizes touch.
Each part of the pendant was handcrafted individually, with precision and intention, to represent each of the five senses — creating a design that reflects the harmony between body, mind, and spirit.
